Hydrophob modified HEC as additive for
An additive for portland cement-based masonry mortar mixes is described which is based on hydrophob modified hydroxyethyl cellulose. Its essential property is a low level of adsorption onto portland cement. Key properties include good water retention even at elevated temperatures, air entrainment, good low-air workability, and flexural bond strength enhancement (meets the requirements of ASTM C 1329 for mortar cements). Its use level is around 0.007%; tradenames are Nexton M20W, M23W and M25W.
