Retarder-Accelerator Combination
Described is a method of controlling the hydration behaviour of gypsum in the manufacture of composite materials, in particular board. The retarder-accelerator combination comprises a calcium salt of an N-polyoxymethylene amino acid and potassium sulfate.
Hrsg.: Sattler et al (Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Forderung der Angewandten Forschung e.V., Munich, DE), 1998, US5846317

Accelerator (for gypsum board)
An accelerator for gypsum board manufacture containing a ground mixture of gypsum and a long chain fatty carboxylic acid, e.g. stearic acid, or a salt thereof.
Hrsg.: Jones et al (BPB Industries Ltd.), 1976, US3947285, DE2342027

Gypsum set accelerator and method of making the same
The accelerator composition includes a vibratory ball milled mixture of calcium sulfate dihydrate and a surfactant. The composition is prepared by subjecting the mixture to the high-frequency, low-impact grinding action of a vibratory ball mill. The resultant composition has a potency superior to that of conventional gypsum set accelerators. Suitable surfactants are anionic (sodium lauy sulfate), cationic (starch derivatives), or nonionic (ethoxylated nonylphenols).
Hrsg.: National Gypsum Properties LLC, 2001. US6221151 (Equivalent: EP1204614)

Accelerator for gypsum plaster
An accelerator with minimized aging is prepared by grinding together dihydrate and sucrose and heating the ground mixture to dehydrate the dihydrate (at least partial). Fructose, lactose, and dextrose have been tested also.
Hrsg.: United States Gypsum Company, 1971. US3573947 (Eqivalent: DE1940843)

Wet gypsum accelerator
A wet gypsum accelerator comprising particles of calcium sulfate dihydrate, water, and (a) an organic phosphonic compound or (b) a phosphate-containing compound (or a mixture of them).
Hrsg.: United States Gypsum Company, 2002. US6409825

Hydration enhancing additives
The gypsum accelerator is calcium sulfate dihydrate and may optionally be ground with a sugar, a starch and/or boric acid. Combinations of this accelerator with a bisulfate salt show a synergistic effect (the combination gives faster set rates than each component used seperatly).
Hrsg.: United States Gypsum Comp. 2002, US6409823, WO0147828, EP1161404

Organic gypsum set accelerators
A gypsum set accelerator for use in the production of gypsum wallboard comprises a tube or ball milled mixture of gypsum and up to 20 percent by weight of the gypsum of a synthetic water-soluble solid surfactant.
Hrsg.: Leeming et al (BPB Industries Ltd.), 1981, US4298394, DE2930164
